Postcard History Series: Las Vegas 1905 - 1965
By Lynn Zook, Allen Sandquist and Carey Burke

Everyone thinks they know the story of Las Vegas: the showgirls, the gambling, the mob. But Las Vegas has always been much more. Families have lived here since it's founding in 1905. These vintage postcards show how Las Vegas evolved from a dusty railroad town into the "Entertainment Capital of the World" while remaining a city filled with families and pioneering souls.

We cover the history of Las Vegas from 1905 to 1965 and besides lots of interesting history about the Strip and the various original hotels, there's lots of history on Fremont Street, Roadside Architecture, the Motels, the Post-War era, and most of all, the Community.

Discover the real history of Las Vegas! It's a fun-filled book packed with info and lots of images of the Las Vegas you love and miss.

Tribute to Las Vegas News Bureau Photographer Don English (DVD)

The work of the Las Vegas News Bureau and Don English were instrumental in shaping the image of Las Vegas in the 1950s and 1960s.  From Miss Atomic bomb to the Dice Girls to Miss Tee Time, Don's photographs helped make Las Vegas the irresistible travel destination it is today.  It is a fitting tribute to him that so many of those images have become iconic classics of an earlier and more innocent era in our city’s history. This film was shown as a part of the Tribute to Don English at the Nevada State Museum on April 4, 2006.
